The story
BLVQ IRIS & The Crossroads is a Cape Town-based jazz–hip-hop collective led by rapper, producer and songwriter BLVQ IRIS, alongside instrumentalists from the South African College of Music at the University of Cape Town. Blending hip-hop, jazz, African influences, trap, Latin jazz, blues and alternative R&B, the collective creates socially conscious music rooted in the cultural landscape of Cape Town. Their live performances bring together jazz improvisation, live instrumentation and township storytelling.
